Eighty-nine Concordia University Chicago student-athletes are among the 963 Northern Athletics Conference Scholar-Athletes honored by the 13-member Division III conference for the 2009-10 academic year.

To be eligible for the list, a student-athlete must have been a full-time student and maintained a grade point average of 3.25 or higher for the past academic year. Each academic year stands by itself for determination of the award.

Nine of Concordia’s scholar-athletes have been on the list every year since the NAC’s inception in 2006. This includes Jacquie Boatman (volleyball), Brandon Isaac (baseball), Derek Kieninger (cross-country, track), Tommy Meyers (baseball), Beth Munkwitz (cross-country, track), Alex Pinotti (volleyball), Rachel Riske (cross-country, track), Zach Tropp (baseball) and Josh Wingfield (tennis).

“I am very proud of the way in which our student-athletes have represented Concordia Chicago with their inclusion on this year’s NAC Scholar-Athlete list,” said Pete Gnan, Concordia-Chicago director of athletics. “Our department has a firm commitment to academic success for our student-athletes, and today’s news is a sign that we are going about things in the right manner. We congratulate these fine student-athletes on their achievement.”
