Oak Park-River Forest High School student-athlete Jillian Briner announced last week that she has made a verbal commitment to accept a full scholarship to play volleyball for Northeastern University in Boston after her upcoming senior year.
Briner, a setter who was actively recruited by several top schools including Indiana, Georgetown, Memphis and George Mason among others, will make her decision official in November.
Briner, who scored five aces and five kills against Trinity to open the season last year, helped lead her club team, 1st Alliance, to a gold medal in last month’s AAU Club Championships in Orlando, Fla. She’s finished all-conference the last two years for the Huskies and served up a total of 72 service aces during her junior season.
Northeastern went 15-12 last season.
