In reviewing Festival Theatre’s production “Of Mice and Men,” do Doug Deuchler and the Journal actually believe that the readers need be warned that the director “has not sanitized the language to have it politically correct”? [Not PC, but oh so powerful, Lifelines, June 16] We are talking about John Steinbeck, for heaven’s sake! No director with any spine would dare touch his words. If the theater audiences of Oak Park can’t handle Steinbeck, we are in worse shape than I feared.

Also, Mr. Deuchler and your proofreader both erred on the name of the actor playing Candy: It is Chicago’s noted actor of many years, William J. Norris, not Morris.
