Oak Park Volvo, located at the intersection of Harlem and Garfield, pick up a trophy on Saturday for being one of the top dozen Volvo dealerships in the nation.

The dealership was told January that it would be receiving the Volvo President’s Club Award, which the national company has been giving for eight years, based on customer satisfaction, sales and service. Oak Park Volvo was placed in the category of dealerships which sold 250 new cars or more in 2009.

There are 330 Volvo dealerships in North America, and of those, 35 received the President’s Club Award. Oak Park Volvo was the only recipient in the Chicago area, said Carmen Scalzo, vice president for the local dealership.

“By all accounts, 2009 was a difficult year,” Doug Speck, president and CEO of Volvo Cars of North America said in a press release. “But, even in the face of a difficult economic environment, Volvo of Oak Park stood tall above the crowd.”
