At 2:32 a.m. on May 5, at Harlem and Lake, Oak Park police arrested Ronnie Walker Jr., 32, of the 5400 block of S. Woods, Chicago. Walker was wanted on an active Illinois Department of Corrections warrant for aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm and a Cook County warrant for dangerous drugs.

Armed robbery

On May 3, a male juvenile from Chicago told police he was approached by two men who demanded his cell phone in the 500 block of Lake. One man displayed a handgun.

Chicago police assisted with a car chase and capture of Montro C. Hackler, 36 of Chicago, who allegedly robbed the CVS on Roosevelt Rd. on May 6 at 1:30 pm. After a car chase from Oak Park into Chicago, city police eventually caught Hackler in the 100 block of N. Pine, Chicago after he bailed out of his car and fled by foot.

Robbery

An Oak Park male juvenile told police he was attacked May 3 in the 1000 block of S. East by three juveniles who struck him from behind and snatched his MP3 player and CTA bus pass.

Auddarius Jefferson, 18, of Chicago and two Chicago juveniles were arrested May 9 at 5 p.m. in the 5700 block of Roosevelt Rd. and charged with robbery. The juveniles were released to their parents.

Dapper dressers ditch burglary

Two men in dressy clothes were observed in the security video monitor prying open the lock on the inner door of a condo building in the 400 block of N. Harlem at 11:35 a.m. on May 5. When they burst into the lobby, they were confronted by security and fled.

Swastika graffiti on Jewish temple

An unknown person etched a swastika into the announcements board of the West Suburban Temple Har Zion in the 1000 block of N. Harlem in River Forest on May 4.

Cars and car-parts stolen

A black 2000 Honda Civic valued at $5,500 was stolen overnight on May 3. It was parked on the street in the 300 block of S. Home.

A man stole a pickup with attached landscaping trailer and supplies in the 200 block of LeMoyne at 11:13 a.m. on May 4. Keys had been left in the ignition of the vehicle which was valued at $35,000.

Around midnight May 9 a green 1994 Dodge Caravan valued at $6,500 was stolen from the 800 block of N. Austin.

Someone stole the catalytic converter from a Jeep parked in the 1000 block of South Blvd. during the day on May 7.

Residential burglary

A witness observed an unknown man carrying two pillowcases emerge from the back yard of a house in the 900 block of Humphrey during the day on May 3. Police found the home’s back door kicked in. Missing were a 37-inch flat screen TV, an Xbox and the pillowcases. The loss was estimated at $2,950.

A household in the 900 block of Fair Oaks was burglarized during the day on May 7. A basement window screen had been cut. Jewelry worth $12,750 was stolen. Earlier in the week, a teenager from the residence returned after parents had reported him missing to police.

An activated alarm thwarted a burglary attempt in the 400 block of S. Ridgeland between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on May 3. A window had been forced open.

Someone defeated the basement lock on a basement window of a house in the 800 block of Maple during the day and forced open the basement door. The residence was ransacked and a Mac computer, computer monitor, HP printer, DVD player and a Motorola cell phone were stolen. Loss was valued at $5,350.

A front door was forced open the morning of May 7 in the first block of LeMoyne. Unknown burglars stole jewelry, a Nintendo DSI and Playstation Wii, along with chargers and games.

Four male Berwyn juveniles were arrested in the 700 block of S. Elmwood May 8 at 5:13 p.m. and charged with burglary. They were released to their parents.

A Chicago juvenile was arrested for the theft of a go-cart from the 1000 block of S. Grove on May 9 at 7:53 p.m. and was released to his parents.

Shopping cart purse thefts

A woman’s purse was stolen from a shopping cart at the Salvation Army at the 6500 block of Roosevelt Rd. on May 4 at 2:15 p.m. Loss was valued at $145. Also May 4, a wallet containing $45 was lifted from a bag at Borders in the 1100 block of Lake around noon.

A purse was stolen May 8 at 1:57 p.m. from a shopping cart in the Deals in the 6400 block of North Ave. Loss was valued at $732.

Retail theft

Colin J. Trimbon, 21, of the 7200 block of Madison in Forest Park was arrested at the 7-Eleven in the 200 block of Chicago Ave. at 7:28 a.m. on May 9 and charged with theft.

Timothy E. Olsen, 35, of Elk Grove Village was arrested May 4 at 4:40 p.m. for retail theft at the River Forest Jewel in the 7500 block of Lake St.

Later that night, Tabitha Clark, 40, of Maywood was arrested for retail theft and battery after scuffling with a security guard outside the Jewel at 6:30 p.m. She was served with two outstanding warrants from Cook and DuPage counties.

Jerome Murphy, 40, of Chicago was arrested at the CVS in the 300 block of Madison May 7 and charged with theft.

Gas station shenanigans

Stanley Lee, Jr., 18, of S. Woodlawn in Chicago was arrested for criminal trespass and attempted theft at the Shell station in the first block of Harrison on May 7.

A man was seen shimmying down the gutter behind Art’s Amoco in the 800 block of S. Oak Park on May 8 at 7:30 p.m. He fled, but the owner suspected he was attempting to steal gas by disrupting the pump satellite signal.

Rocks through windows

Windows were shattered by hurled rocks on May 8 between 10 and 11 p.m. in the 700 block of S. Kenilworth and the 950 block of Garfield.

Bike thefts

River Forest police caught two men May 3 with a bicycle stolen from the Roosevelt school bike rack. Police charged Charles Chambers, of Chicago and Desmond Landrum, of Northlake, both 18, and recovered 20 small bags of cannabis weighting 15.25 grams.

A locked black mountain bike worth $364 disappeared from a bike rack in the 1100 block of South Blvd. May 4 during the day.

An unlocked boy’s red Rhino bike was stolen from the side yard of a house in the 1100 block of S. Taylor during the day on May 4.

A locked bike worth $700 was stolen from the Whole Foods bike rack May 5 during the day.

A BMX bike was removed from a closed but unlocked front porch in the 500 block of S. Highland May 3 during the day.

Criminal trespass

Latoya Alenander, 39, and Shenae Creig, 36, both of Chicago, were charged with trespassing in the 400 block of S. Humphrey May 4.

These items were obtained from police reports filed by the Oak Park and River Forest police departments May 3-May 9. Not all incidents that occurred are listed. Anyone named in reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated.
