Lincoln Elementary School, 1111 S. Grove, will take part today April 21 in the Scripps Great American Spell Check. No computers will be needed for this event. Rather than the usual spelling bee, today’s event features a spelling test of 50 words. Celebrity “guest readers” from Oak Park will read each word to students in grades first through fifth. Readers scheduled to appear include Village President David Pope and Oak Park Police Chief Rick Tanksley. A member of Oak Park and River Forest High School’s state champion wrestling team will also read to students. The tests will take place during the school day.
