How the village’s seniors may be better served by the park district will be the focus of a new advisory group in Oak Park.

Beginning this month, the park district is recruiting seven community members to serve on the Senior Advisory Committee, which will give the park district board direct input on how to improve programming aimed at keeping seniors active. Applications and additional information are available on the district’s Web site, and at three locations: Hedges Administrative Center, 218 Madison; Dole Center, 255 Augusta; and Ridgeland Common; 415 Lake.

According to the park district, committee members will be selected in April and the group’s first public meeting will be held in August.

The committee’s creation is in response to concerns about declining program participation, pricing concerns and the park district’s decision-making process, according to a statement on the park’s Web site.
