The TCF Bank branch at Jewel-Osco in
River Forest was robbed Sunday night by a man suspected in a series of recent robberies. But in this case, the gunman didn’t get away with the money.

According to
River Forest police, at about Sunday, a gunman entered the supermarket at 7525 Lake, displayed a semiautomatic handgun at the bank branch there, and demanded money.

A dye pack that had been put into what the gunman was handed discharged while he fled. The money was recovered in the parking lot. No one was injured.

River Forest police, who are working with the FBI to investigate the robbery, say the FBI believes this is the same person who has robbed several TCF Bank branches in the last few weeks.

The FBI released a statement Tuesday featuring photos from a video of the suspect, who is wanted in connection with the armed robbery of at least five
Chicago area banks in the past month. The most recent theft was Monday at the TCF branch at 1341 N. Paulina in Chicago.

According to the FBI statement, the man is “armed with a semiautomatic handgun and should be considered dangerous.”

If you have information about this man, call the Chicago FBI office at 312-421-6700.
