Mina Riddle recently sent in her recommendations, adding to our list of “great reads” [Happy reading, Inside Report, Jan. 6]:
The Help, by Kathryn Stockett, a novel set in Jackson, Miss., during the Civil Rights Era of the 1960s. “This is an educational and well-written page-turner,” Riddle says. “The ending is both realistic and uplifting.” She also recommends the CDs.
The Girl from Foreign, by Sadia Shepard, a memoir about the author’s year-long journey to find her roots in a Jewish community in India.
Both are available through the Oak Park Public Library.
