The Oak Park village board has a new employment contract with Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #8, which represents the village’s 90 patrol officers. Officers will receive three percent raises retroactive to Jan. 1, 2009 and continuing through Dec. 31, 2010 under terms of the new two-year contract.

The old contract expired Dec. 31, 2008. Police rank and file ratified the new contract on Dec. 7.

Total base salary plus pension costs for those 90 police officers in 2010, excluding overtime, will be $9,280,661. The contract also calls for increases in base sergeant pay, from $76,893 in 2009 to $79,200 in 2010.

A separate three-year contract with the village’s seven community service officers (CSOs) was ratified by that group on Nov. 30. It calls for raises of zero, one and two percent during the years 2010-2012. CSO base salary scale will go from $47,882 in 2009 to $50,673 in 2012.

Among the changes to the CSO contract is a new five day work week running either from Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday. That replaces the old schedule of six days on followed by two days off.
