With William Bell soon to retire as Oak Park fire chief, the village today named someone to temporarily serve in the department’s top position.
Tom Ebsen, a member of the Oak Park Fire Department since 1980, will become acting fire chief when Bell retires Dec. 30, according to a village press release. Bell is retiring from Oak Park to take over as fire chief in Richland Hills, Texas.
Ebsen is a deputy chief for the department and was born and raised in Oak Park. He’s an Elmhurst resident, where he lives with his wife and five kids. He’ll run the department until the village names Bell’s successor.
