For the OPRF wrestling team one streak ended last week at 35 while another was bumped up to 14.
The Huskies pushed their West Suburban (Silver) Conference unbeaten streak – carried over from last season – to 14 dual matches with a 36-27 victory over Downers Grove North on Friday.
Sammy Brooks, Nick Kowalczuk, Benny Brooks, Marc Brumant, Frankie Picchiotti, Chris Dardanes, Nick Dardanes and Charlie Johnson all scored victories in the match.
OPRF hosts Hinsdale Central on Jan. 7 for its next conference match-up.
While one streak stood, another fell. On Saturday, OPRF’s overall winning streak ended at 35 matches when the Huskies fell to Neuqua Valley 42-28 in a triangular with West Aurora and Glenbard North. OPRF defeated West Aurora 44-24 and Glenbard North 34-33.
Against West Aurora, Chris Dardanes, Sammy Brooks, Kowalczuk and Benny Brooks all forced falls on their opponents.
The Huskies won the first seven matches against Glenbard North, who answered with five victories of their own to make the meet interesting. Chirino Watson (125-pound weight division) secured an 8-2 decision over Jorge Rocha to lift the Huskies.
Anthony Manetti, Nick Dardanes, Benny Brooks, Picchiotti, Chris Dardanes and Cameron Harris all had victories in the loss to Neuqua Valley.
OPRF hosts Mt. Carmel on Thursday night.
