Speaking of the Sun-Times, Oak Park and local high schools, columnist (and Rick Morrissey’s new colleague) Mark Brown, who lives (but didn’t grow up) in Oak Park, wrote last Wednesday about a curious practice at Oak Park and River Forest High School back in the 1960s. In addition to nude swimming for the boys (subject of a previous column), OPRF required the girls, at the beginning of their freshman year, to pose for nude photos in P.E. class. It seems they were being checked for poor posture, a quality held in much higher regard, apparently, in those days than now, when posture is practiced only by models and politicians.

As Seinfeld once observed, there’s good naked and bad naked. It suffices to say that “posture class” never made it into the yearbook.
