The Trinity basketball team opened the Girls Catholic Athletic Conference with a 36-23 victory over Resurrection on Saturday.

Sophomore Megan Podkowa led the Blazers (6-2, 1-0) with 13 points, while freshman Taylor Nazon added eight.

Earlier in the week, the Blazers scored a 46-42 upset over then eighth-ranked T.F. North. The Blazers held on despite letting go a 12-point lead in the fourth quarter. Trinity scored five points at the foul line in the closing seconds to secure the victory.

Podkowa led the Blazers with 17 points, while Gracie Sanchez hauled down 11 rebounds to go along with her five points.
