Roy Gummerson Invitational
Both the OPRF girls and boys cross-country teams turned out favorable finishes at their own Roy Gummerson Invitational at Schiller Woods on Saturday.

Liz Reyes led the girls team to third place by finishing eighth overall with a time of 18:53 on the 3-mile course. Other Huskies who contributed to the 99-point finish included Evangelie Zachos (12th place, 19:21), Carolina Cotton (24th, 20:07), Kate Ritter (26th, 20:17), Veronica Saltzman (29th, 20:25) and Katie Kurtz (40th, 20:42).

Zachos was nearly a full one minute faster than her time at the Gummerson invite last season.

OPRF boys cross-country

OPRF’s Malachy Schrobilgen won the boys race with a time of 15:13. The effort helped lead the team to second place with a score of 39.

Peter Hogenson finished third overall in 15:31 for the Huskies, while Nicholas Reyes closed out the top 10 in 15:54.

Prospect won the invitational with a score of 34.

The OPRF boys team travels to Crete Monee this Saturday for an invitational, while the girls compete at Loyola.
