Drive-up lanes are open until 9 p.m. tonight at Corus Bank in River Forest, but a sign on the door at 7727 Lake tells of Corus’s seizure today by federal banking regulators.
This afternoon, members of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency arrived to close the bank and to appoint the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as receiver.
When the branch reopens at 9 a.m. Saturday morning, it will be MB Financial, the Chicago bank that acquired $2 billion in Corus deposits this afternoon in a transaction that the FDIC helped arrange.
The FDIC is retaining Corus’s commercial real estate loans, and loans and real estate related to Corus’s construction lending.
If you have questions about today’s transaction, call the FDIC toll-free at 1-800-823-5017. Someone can take your call at this number until 9 p.m. Central; from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday CDT; from noon to 6:00 p.m. Sunday; and from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. afterward. You can also check this page on the FDIC’s Web site: www.fdic.gov/bank/individual/failed/corus.html.
Corus Bank had been the River Forest State Bank and Trust Co.
