According to this article [Parking palooza (print headline), News, Aug. 26; The story behind Oak Park’s student parking fees (Web headline)], the Village of Oak Park alienated citizens of River Forest for an additional $3,900 in parking revenue ($52 non-resident fee difference times 75 River Forest students who bought parking passes).

My question: Was it worth it?

Trustee Ray Johnson is willing to defend raising the parking fees at OPRF High but has yet to explain why employees, including nonresidents, are not required to pay for parking at Village Hall.

It seems unfair that people who determine the fee structure are able to exempt themselves from paying a dime.

Isn’t this a burden that should be shared?
