If you prefer a battle of the ballclubs, head over to The Park (that’s its name) in
Forest Park to catch some of the action in the annual softball tournament known as the No Glove Nationals – basically, the World Series of 16-inch softball. The Park is at Beloit and Harrison, just south of the Eisenhower and just east of

Desplaines Avenue
. The tournament starts today and runs through Sunday. Every game, every day, is free. For details, find the No Gloves special section in our sibling paper, the Forest Park Review: www.forestparkreview.com.

Need a running start on plans for the first Friday in August? Note that tickets go on sale this Friday for FitzGerald’s Night Club’s tribute to Michael Jackson. FitzGerald’s will be bringing in the band TributoSaurus, which specializes in the niche known as “tribute pop.” And this band apparently goes all out. The Aug. 6 tribute to the king of pop will include TributoSaurus’s “multiple keyboard and guitar rigs, horn section, string section, a slew of guest vocalists, all the electronic percussion you can imagine, everything else that goes into re-creating some of the most meticulously produced music ever.” Best of all, they won’t be playing any
Jackson 5 songs, just “pure Michael.”

This tribute will be Friday, Aug. 6, outdoors under the Fitz tent. For tickets, which are $15, call 708-788-2118 or go to www.ticketweb.com. FitzGerald’s is at

6615 Roosevelt Road
in Berwyn.
