More than a dozen trees were damaged by rain and strong winds across Oak Park Wednesday afternoon.
According to the village, the most damage occurred in southeast Oak Park, where an estimated 2 to 3 inches of rain fell. The heavy rains have left some areas flooded, including around village hall at Madison and Lombard.
Crews from the village’s public works department are now clearing out catch basins and cleaning up tree debris, according to a village e-mail release.
Reportedly, no power went out. But if someone sees a downed line, the village is asking them to steer clear and call 911. Also, do not walk through standing water, which could contain open manholes, and use caution when driving through flooded streets.
