We seem to be hearing too many accounts of people finding Oak Park parking enforcement and collection so severe that that they plan to boycott village businesses. [After ticket, no more shopping in OP, Viewpoints, May 20]

I would suggest that in addition to complaining to Oak Park officials, also contact the owners of the shops, restaurants, etc., to explain why they have decided to spend their dollars elsewhere. There is a lot of competition for disposable income, and we cannot afford to lose this revenue. Oak Park needs proper oversight in order to attract and keep consumers. We have many outstanding venues for dining and entertainment and some unique shopping experiences.

We want people visiting the village to leave with a smile and promise to come back again. Word of mouth that Oak Park is a hassle hurts the bottom line for business and government.
