I read the article on the Beye School recycling tree in the May 6 edition and thought that it was a great idea. [Trash-a-palooza at Beye School, news] But my concern is: What does it teach the students if their recycling project is ultimately recycled?

Couldn’t the project be more permanent? Why can’t the community enjoy it, also? I thought, since they have multiple sculptures in front of the school, why not display the recycling tree in front, too? It would not only encourage the children to recycle, but it would also be nice to see the students’ work in a more lasting way.
