I am supporting Mila Tellez for re-election to the library board. My endorsement is based on working with Mila this past year on several projects. From this experience, I believe any board would be happy to have Tellez serve with them. She has great ideas, boundless energy and enthusiasm. She is also thoughtful and willing to listen to others and support their ideas with her own commitment. In addition, she has a good perspective of community needs based on her service in many different organizations.
I recently had the pleasure of working with Mila on projects at the 19th Century Club. In one project, she initiated and brought to Oak Park a regular series of Contra Dances (starting last September and continuing through this summer). These old fashioned dances with live bands have brought together people from all over the Chicago area, supporting the goal of the club to provide inexpensive live cultural events for our community.
In another project, Mila supported the club’s major benevolence fundraiser through organizing a committee of new young members to add a very successful silent auction. As a result, those attending that Mardi Gras benefit both had more fun and gave more money in support of the club’s charitable efforts in our community. Mila’s positive attitude also makes her an asset. Vote for Mila Tellez for the library board.
