Were Gina Orlando’s dubious comparison of Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s merely overly anecdotal and frustratingly incomplete, that alone should have precluded running the poorly reported story as anything other than an editorial, at least barring further investigation or more than the minimal effort to confirm its sloppy, scattershot generalizations. [Showdown at the health food corral, Lifelines, Feb. 25] Yet while perhaps it’s just a coincidence that the piece reflected a disturbing bias in its omissions and assumptions, the fact that Ms. Orlando is a former employee of Whole Foods (by her admission, no less) crosses so many ethical boundaries it’s hard to know where to begin.
