The Wednesday Journal editorial, “We suspect a pest,” [Viewpoints, Feb. 11] questions the motivation of a resident who is legally challenging the petitions of two candidates for park district commissioners. I wonder why you do not ask the same regarding the individuals who are contesting a homeless man’s right to appear on the ballot for village trustee? Either you do not consider Daniel Fore a legitimate candidate, or have already decided to endorse the park candidates being challenged. Is the latter true, and are you attempting to discredit the other candidates? Let the matter be resolved by the Cook County Clerk’s office and use your forum to provide an opportunity for residents to learn where each candidate stands on the issues. There’s a lot at stake in both the village and park district elections. Voters deserve the facts, not reckless speculation from the media.
