Marsha Sebesta, 63, Special ed teacher, volunteer

Marsha W. Sebesta, 63, died Feb. 2, 2009, of brain cancer in her home in Oak Park. A 30-year resident of Oak Park, she was born in Morris, Ill. on Dec. 18, 1945 to the late Ray and Martha Waters of Coal City. She graduated from Coal City High School in 1964, Knox College in 1968, and later received her master’s in education from Concordia University, River Forest in 1996.

She taught special education at Jefferson Elementary in Berwyn for 10 years, was a member of the Oak Park-River Forest Infant Welfare Circle and has been active in the 1st United Church of Oak Park Nursery School. She also co-authored the book Celebrate.

Marsha Sebesta is survived by her husband of 30 years, Gerald J.; her sons, Jameson and Jeremy; and her grandson, Nicholas Harvey.

Visitation was held on Feb. 6 at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home where services were held on Feb. 7. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park was private.
