As former Lincoln Park residents (20 years ago), my wife and I were always bemused by neighbors who moved into Lincoln Park and immediately started to complain about the bars, the restaurants and the street noise. At that time we suggested they move to, well, Oak Park – north of Lake. Here’s a tip for people looking to move into a new neighborhood: look out the window of your car before you buy. If there are sign things around instead of trees and you’re a light sleeper or chronic complainer, move on.
The Madison Street McDonald’s has truly been reborn. It’s quick. The food is fresh. The staff is amazing. And the combination is just killing me on my no-more-breakfast-number-2s (sausage McMuffin and egg, hash brown and a small Coke) New Year’s resolution. That’s 670 calories and 37 grams of fat for those who are counting.
And as far as Cathy Yen’s advice, well, if you as a storeowner or even just a regular citizen can argue with – and I’m paraphrasing – “just be nice,” then maybe living somewhere else really is a good idea. And that’s about as nice as I can put it.
