I returned on Christmas evening from a ski trip in Colorado and was appalled at the road conditions in Oak Park. Why is it that up in the mountains of Colorado, where they received 10 inches of fresh snow Tuesday morning, the streets were clear and safe for driving and ours are not? The streets must be maintained in the winter, regardless of the budget-find the money and make it happen.

The village is low on salt and only salting some of the streets. How about an alternative to salt, like sand, which is used in many other states effectively? The lack of plowing and salting is unacceptable and it’s only December. If the village doesn’t spend the money now, they will later-for additional emergency services, lawsuits, and, unfortunately, even lives.
