I’m so sorry about your loss, Ms. Green. [OPRF junior killed in motorcycle accident, News, Oct. 29]

You are in my prayers! Everyone loved your son. He was outgoing, well known, cute and just positive company to be around. I’ve known him since I can remember. I remember we all used to hang out in Hephzibah, and when we’d go to summer Hephzibah and other schools, no one could break us up because we were the
Irving crew and we stuck together.

He always tried to teach me, Brittany, and my brother all those skateboard and bike tricks, but we just seemed to never catch on! Oh and on the field trips at school when his aunt would chaperone, I always made sure we were with her. She was the best and we knew it! He’d always smile because everyone always had a crush on his mom, but he knew that you were always just his.

When I heard about what happened to him, I just couldn’t believe it. See, once we got to high school and didn’t have any classes together, I’d just make fun of him and his lil girlfriends in the hallway because she was in my class last year and he’d walk her there.

It was unbelievable. I was like, “Not my Devontae; no, couldn’t be,” but it was. I just knew for sure that he was gonna randomly try to sneak past my house, and I would see him and make him model his Abercrombie; then we would have a long talk, and he’d be gone home or to see Kayla.

When I went to the wake, I wanted to talk to him and let him know that we all love him and that we are here. Ms. Green, when I saw you up there and all your genuine love for him, it broke mine and I’m sure everybody else’s heart to have to see you going through that. No matter what, a piece of him is left in all of us.

If you need anything, I’m here! He knows you love him, and I’m sure he’s watching his main girl! Green family, my prayers go out to you. Keep smilin’ up there DG and rest in peace. Love you, man.
