River Forest police said Tuesday they do not suspect foul play in the disappearance of student Trang Nguyen from a local English language program.

Nguyen, 20, has not been seen since Oct. 7. She arrived in River Forest on Aug. 31 on a student visa to study English through ELS (English Language Services). The program is affiliated with Dominican University. Concordia University spokesperson Kim McCullough confirmed Nguyen was housed at Concordia. The university, she noted, provides housing to more than 20 students attending ELS.

“There were no signs of foul play,” said Deputy Police Chief Dan Dhooghe. “She left with some items that are consistent with her leaving voluntarily. But we haven’t been able to confirm that.” He said investigators are continuing to seek computer and phone records in hopes of locating Nguyen and speaking with her.
