Congratulations to the OP-RF Food Pantry for over 30 years of service. Perhaps a little history might be of interest.

In 1977, as parents of a Beye School Girl Scout, we delivered the first holiday food baskets to a handful of local families. This was a project of Beye’s Cadette Girl Scout Troop, which met at Faith United Methodist (now Cornerstone) Church. The pantry’s first location was a classroom closet at
Faith Church.

After 15 or 20 years, the success of the pantry required a move to a larger location. After a period in a storefront on

South Boulevard
, First United Church stepped forward to provide the current location.

In addition to the Girl Scout leaders, initial leadership was provided by Rev. Dave Scott, the pastor of
Faith Church. Later Joe Salvino of Oak Park Township became involved and eventually Ms. Pat Koko provided needed leadership.
