Jeffery D. King, 29, of the 1200 block of North Austin Blvd., was arrested, Oct. 3, and charged with felony reckless conduct for allegedly endangering the life of a baby girl.
Oak Park police were contacted by officials from DCFS last week after the 14-month-old girl was treated for second- and third-degree immersion burns to both hands at the Loyola Hospital Burn Unit Sept. 27. The child was reportedly left alone with the King, who is the baby’s mother’s boyfriend.
Detective Commander Clemet Harbour said King told them the incident was an accident. “His story was he was cleaning a brush in hot water in a bathroom sink,” said Harbour. “He said the child fell forward into the water.”
