On behalf of Sertus Capital Partners, I’d like to express our thanks to the approximately 50 people who attended the “listening session” we hosted on Tuesday night, July 29, at Cheney Mansion. We arranged for the meeting to gather public input in connection with development of the property at the corner of

Lake Street
and
Forest Avenue
.

It was a pleasure to meet neighbors who live near
Lake and Forest and talk again with others about the status of the project. Most important, it was an opportunity for us to hear from the community about issues, concerns and questions. The meeting was a productive opportunity for our team to hear from smart, engaged residents who are interested in what happens at Lake and Forest.

I hope that those who attended the meeting would agree the tone of the evening was respectful and positive. Our team had a couple of objectives going into the meeting: give everyone who attended an opportunity to express his or her view, and listen carefully to what people said.

The development process has advanced this summer, with the recent signing of a non-binding term sheet between the village and Sertus and the July meeting, and it now enters a phase that includes negotiation of a redevelopment agreement with the village. As we progress in that phase of the project, there will be more opportunities for public input and review.

Based on the positive outcome of the listening session, we look forward to more dialogue with the community.
