Wednesday, Aug. 27 The second and fourth Wednesdays of every month are Laughter Yoga days in Oak Park. That’s when, at 7 p.m., David Kelm leads a class at Mills Tower, which is at 1025 Pleasant Place. David is quick to remind you that laughter is aerobic exercise, that it strengthens the immune system and leads to better health. A stress buster, after all. And because our bodies somehow don’t know the difference between natural laughter and that induced for, say, the sake of a class, you needn’t have a sense of humor to get the most out of class. Best to fake it till you make it. Call David, if need be, 975-9300 or e-mail david1945@aol.com.

Thursday, Aug. 28 There’s no denying the night’s history meter, regardless what you think of our junior senator. At 6 p.m., if you’re not near a TV set at work or at home, keep in mind FitzGerald’s hi-def 9- by 16-foot screen. The club in Berwyn is OK with you hangin’ out to catch Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention. The viewing is free. FitzGerald’s Nightclub, 6615 Roosevelt Road. 788-2118. www.fitzgeraldsnightclub.com.

Friday, Aug. 29 For its wine tasting tonight, from 6 to
9 p.m, HouseRed opts for eco-friendly, organic and what they call “no-headache” wines. Clarity’s a good thing going into a long, holiday weekend. 7403 W. Madison, Forest Park. 771-7733, www.house-red.com.

Saturday, Aug. 30 Chef Gaetano di Benedetto is an old Mediterranean soul in a young dad’s body. He takes all matters relating to food so seriously, he’s not OK simply feeding folks in his new namesake restaurant. Connecting with people and imparting his way of treating ingredients is vital. So his cooking classes-the last Saturday of the month-are a big deal. This month, Gaetano goes vegetarian in his kitchen coaching. The class, which costs $60, starts at 10 a.m., lasts till 1 p.m., and packs a lot of wine in that three-hour stretch. 7636 W. Madison, Forest Park. 366-4010. www.gaetanos.us.

Sunday, Aug. 31 The folks at Trailside Museum of Natural History in River Forest see learning ops in dining. At 2:30 p.m., they host a class about critters-a turkey vulture, a hawk, a coyote and a fox-as they’re being fed dinner. Free. 738 Thatcher, River Forest. 366-6530.

Monday, Sept. 1 If you’ve not taken in nature’s bounty this summer, now’s the day to be thankful for our parks. Get out. Unwind. Enjoy. It’s laborless day.

Tuesday, Sept. 2 A class at Flavour Cooking School called Stretch Your $$ shows you how to make four meals for four people, for less than $16 a meal.
