In a recent article about the Golden Apple winners [Golden Apples go to … Austin, Inside Report, May 7], the writer noted that Oak Park teachers were “conspicuously absent” from the winners circle. My co-teacher, Karen Fogg and I were both finalists in this competition. That means we were two out of 31 educators recognized for our teaching. I was also selected as a Teacher of Distinction by the Golden Apple Foundation and will be recognized at the ceremony in September. Just wanted you to know we weren’t “conspicuously absent.”
Editor’s note: We reported on the Golden Apple finalists and included profiles of McAndrew and Fogg [Two Beye teachers share passion and now Golden Apple nods, News] in the Feb. 6 Wednesday Journal.
