Almost 50 years ago, the Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation came into being thanks to a small group of visionary, dedicated individuals. On May 8, members of the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors, the 50th Anniversary Honorary Committee and guests, met at Pleasant Home to begin planning for the foundation’s 50th anniversary.

In honor of all who have contributed to the community through the Community Foundation, the foundation is planning a 50th Anniversary Gala for April 18, 2009. The gala event will celebrate both the foundation’s past and aspirations for the future.

The Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation provides a central resource for donors, professional financial advisors, student scholarships and nonprofit organizations serving Oak Park & River Forest. The foundation convenes community resources to address underfunded and/or emerging needs and provides networking and relationship-building opportunities within the community. Currently, the foundation manages more than $12,000,000 in assets.
