While reading John Stanger’s article on “DOOPer’s memories” [Cub Scouts, Wieboldt’s and the ’56 Huskies, LifeLines, May 14], the floodgate of memories comes gushing forward. Although many landmarks are long gone, many still remain, which is comforting for me to see. Like John, I too wonder what progress will bring to Oak Park and River Forest in the years ahead. Regardless, as I pass through today, I’ll still see the old O.P. library building, Marshall Field, Wieboldt’s, etc. as they once were. Thanks for the memories, John.
