I would like to express my appreciation to the many individuals and businesses who helped make the Historical Society of Oak Park-River Forest’s fifth annual housewalk, Fabulous Fair Oaks: Oak Park‘s Elegant Estate Homes, one of our most successful events to date.

Special thanks to the more than 100 individuals who volunteered as house captains, advertising salespersons and house researchers and to those who organized registration, sold tickets, greeted visitors and served as guides sharing the history of these exceptional homes the day of the housewalk.

I’m especially grateful to Wednesday Journal and to the more than 50 other local businesses who supported the work of the Historical Society by sponsoring an advertisement in our program, to the local florists who provided beautiful floral arrangements inside and floral signage outside each house, and to the businesses who provided refreshments for the reception following the housewalk.

Finally, I am particularly indebted to the homeowners who generously agreed to open their homes and worked with us with great enthusiasm to make the Housewalk such a success.  Their generosity will help support the work of the Historical Society of Oak Park & River Forest, a not-for-profit community organization that is the caretaker of the rich history of both communities.  This event would not have been a success without them.
