Oak Park and River Forest High School is expected to name and approve a permanent principal tomorrow night at the District 200 Board of Education regular meeting. The board meeting takes place at OPRF, 201 N. Scoville, at 7:30 p.m.

Supt. Attila Weninger said the four finalists were narrowed to two, but did not say who they were. The four finalists vying for the job were Elizabeth Bender, principal at University City High School in Missouri; Nathaniel Rouse, assistant principal at Highland Park High School; Betheny Lyke, principal of Thornton Township High School in Harvey; and Don Vogel, a veteran OPRF administrator, who has served as interim principal during the current school year.

According to an anonymous source, Rouse is one of the two finalists.

OPRF High School, which hired two permanent assistant principals in March, has not had a full-time principal since the mid-1990s.

Weninger, hired as superintendent last May, said the building principal will be the instructional leader of the school, along with other duties involving the day-to-day management of the building. That person will also lead the Building Leadership Team (BLT) and serve on the District Leadership Team (DLT) with Weninger and other administrators.
