The bottom line is the process worked [ZBA votes down stadium lights, WJ Update, Feb. 7]. The high school simply did not make its case that the zoning variances should have been granted, given the burden on the neighbors (none of whom moved here expecting there to be dazzling hundred-foot light poles installed, bringing noise, litter and traffic until late every evening). Government exists to protect the rights of the minority, and it worked in this case. Well done, ZBA, for not allowing a nightmare to be imposed on our neighborhood!

Maybe the Boosters can now use their war chest toward the $500,000 it is supposed to cost to replace the turf on the field, which is apparently falling apart.
