I’m fine with improving the quality of early childhood education, but why do we need another study [Funding the origin of the gap, Our Views, Viewpoints, Nov. 7]? There must be tons of studies out there on this very topic.

In addition, we already support expensive state government initiatives on early childhood education. Couldn’t we get a grant from the state?

Oak Parkers are severely overtaxed, especially when you consider the poor quality of the elementary schools and of many other village services. Before the board hits us up for yet more money, board members and the early childhood advocates need to make the effot to apply for existing funding.
