Festival Theatre held its first “Black and White Gala” at the Carleton Hotel ballroom, Nov. 15. The Marian Karczmar Award, named for the founder of Festival Theatre and given each year to a community member who has shown “continued support” for the company, was awarded to Wednesday Journal columnist and culture editor Ken Trainor for his reporting (and kibitzing) over the years during Festival’s turnaround and renaissance. Heather Moran provided the after-dinner entertainment, serenading the guests with show tunes and shtik. A silent auction followed.
