Recently, a former priest, John Pritscher, who served at Ascension Parish, died. He left the priesthood during the terrible turmoil and upheavals of the ’60s. John spent the rest of his life seeking help for the poor, especially the homeless, and was able to move many, many of them into decent housing. His great smile would dispel any gloom or despair. We always had to smile, even in the midst of some crisis. His faith and hope bolstered everyone who ever knew him.

Rest in peace, dear John.
