The Dominican University soccer team advanced on to the second round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament by edging the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 1-0 on Saturday.

Matt Kochanowski scored his fourth game-winning goal of the season for the Stars. Kochanowski’s game-winner came in the 88th minute. Junior goalkeeper Piotr Sliwa assisted on the goal as he punted the ball over the Warhawks’ defense. Kochanowski chased down the pass inside the Whitewater box and then beat the goalkeeper for the lone score of the game. The goal was Kochanowski’s 13th goal of the season and 55th of his career.

The Stars (17-3-1) face the Washington University (Mo.) Bears in the second round on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Whitewater.
