Construction workers installed new blue stone sidewalks on Marion Street last week, which extend from Lake Street to North Boulevard. An extra crew was added yesterday to help speed up the process, and the sidewalk should be complete and open to pedestrians by Nov. 14, Village Manager Tom Barwin said. AT&T has completed its vault work on Marion, setting the project behind slightly, but Barwin is 95 percent sure the street will open by Nov. 21 (as planned), barring any “prolonged knuckleball storms.” A small parking lot where the former Sawyer Business College building was formerly located, new streetlights, and a brick roadway should start to take shape next week. “You’re going to see a very attractive pallet of colors and textures with kind of a timeless quality,” Barwin said of the sidewalks. “You can feel the excitement building and start to see how the street is taking on a new life.”
