The recent closing of one lane of Lake Street traffic joined the construction hubbub on Marion Street to make for a disheveled scene in the downtown shopping district.
But as the dust has flown, so has progress on the infrastructure improvements accompanying the re-streeting of Marion.
Installation of a new water main was completed in July, as were half of the new water connections to buildings that with increase flow, according to a village-issued report to businesses. The other half of water connections was scheduled to be done last week.
Crews widened sidewalks and washed business’s windows before the July 26-29 sidewalk sales.
Work on electrical improvements was largely complete at the end of July.
There were some stumbles reported-heavy rains caused some basements to flood and work on the Whiteco building caused a brief power outage July 26.
