I understand the concern with finding equivalent housing for those being displaced by the YMCA’s move, but is it written somewhere that Oak Park has to be the location of the replacement housing [YMCA replacement proposal raises red flags, Viewpoints, May 30]?

Why have we heard nothing about replacement housing in Forest Park or River Forest? Or Lake Forest, for that matter. Suburban Cook and the collars have many well off suburbs who could presumably benefit from an increase in socially responsible housing, the cries of their current residents notwithstanding.

Given our extraordinarily high property tax burden, we may not be able to afford to be as generous as in the past.
