Dominican University celebrated the 27th anniversary of its Annual Trustee Benefit Concert on April 22 with a recital by world-renowned operatic soprano Deborah Voigt. A devotee of Broadway and American song, Voigt included popular standards as well as dramatic arias in her performance. Almost 1,000 people gave the well-loved Illinois native a standing ovation, which Voigt rewarded by playing an impromptu ragtime ditty on the piano. Net proceeds from the benefit, which totaled $168,000 and included receipts from the concert, a silent auction and gala dinner, will support scholarships for future Dominican University students.
