Bob Kane has articulated an excellent message of transparency in governmental process: televise live broadcasts of District 97, District 200 and the Park District of Oak Park. In addition, much consideration should be given to televising the important work of our village committees and commissions as equally important components of overall transparency in a healthy representative process. In particular, the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Plan Commission render judgments that impact citizens in both residential and commercial zones. Residents would greatly benefit by information gathering with TV inclusion of these two commissions.
ob Kane’s recommendation of “easy access to the information” via television is a valuable tool for open government. Let’s move this action-agenda forward with our newly elected board of trustees.
