Triton College put its best foot forward for Oak Park residents last Thursday, as numerous Triton administrators and staff mingled with village residents and dignitaries during “Oak Park Village Honor Day,” May 10.

The timing was appropriate as Thomas Gary recently became the first Triton trustee from Oak Park in the past 20 years.

Besides Gary, Oak Park Village President David Pope was present. Triton President Patricia Granados, who did not return phone calls seeking comment on the event and on other issues, made a few comments before presenting a plaque to Pope that featured the logos of the two entities and the words “Partnering in Progress.”

The press release-from the college’s marketing department, not its public relations office-reported that “Pope thanked Granados and his trustees [Ray] Johnson and Sandra Sokol.” Sokol is the village clerk.
