Mildred Cahill, 90, Dominican grad and supporter
Mildred Yvonne Cahill, 90, recently of Wheaton, formerly of Forest Park and Holley Court of Oak Park, died April 5, 2007. Born on March 29, 1917, she grew up in Glen Ellyn and was a 1939 graduate of Rosary College, now Dominican University. She remained active in alumnae affairs and maintained lifelong friendships with many members of the Sinsinawa Dominican community.
Mrs. Cahill worked as a legal secretary, the last 30 or so with the firm, McBride and Baker. She was a Eucharistic minister at St. Luke Church in River Forest for a number of years. In the 1980s and ’90s she would walk to daily Mass at St. Luke with her regular companion, the late Dan Riordan. She was a benefactor to several Catholic institutions.
Ms. Cahill was the daughter of the late William R. and Alta (nee Mercil); the sister of William R. Jr. and the late Catherine, Loraine Cools, Adele and Dorothy Jochum; the sister-in-law of Betty; and the loving aunt of 14 nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Michael Church in Wheaton, followed by interment at St. Michael Cemetery.
